MEN
What does it take to be a “real man” today? Believe it or not, it’s harder now than it ever has been. The pressures of balancing work, faith, family, and self, place high demands on men every day. Here are a few ways you can grow, draw strength, and inspiration, to help meet those demands.
Men’s Bible Study
Weekly Men’s Bible study group, led by Jack Barr, meets on Thursday mornings from 6:30am to 7:30am in the large conference room (101) at SPL.
SPL ManUP Men’s Ministry
Come together with the men of SPL ManUp Men’s Ministry weekly on Saturday mornings at 7:00am in The Loft (2nd Floor) at SPL or on Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm (Small Conference Room). Connect in fellowship and dig deep in regular study and learning.
Special Events – Woodcutters Retreat
Do you own a chain saw?  Would you like to a reason to purchase a chain saw? Then join the Men of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and other area congregations as we come together at Camp Cilca (Sherman, IL) each February – this year’s Woodcutters Retreat is February 15TH—17TH.Â
Camp Cilca is our LCMS owned camp located just outside Springfield that hosts children throughout the summer and groups throughout the other months. Each year the men of SPL have a blast providing this service for the camp. Â
Beginning on Friday evening (7:00pm), the weekend includes time of food, fellowship, devotion, and serving—you’ll hit the trails with your chain saws and other equipment throughout the weekend, cutting and preparing firewood for the next season of campers at the Camp.  The retreat will wrap up on Sunday morning. This year features sessions with Pastor Kirk Clayton throughout the weekend.
Housing will be in the Christian Growth Center at Camp Cilca (bedding provided) and meals are also included. The suggested donation for the weekend is $30 (you can participate Saturday only for $20). Please register (online or at SPL) and be sure to turn in payment to the Church Office (checks payable to SPL).
Even if you aren’t an experienced saw operator, there’s something for everyone to do including carrying logs, splitting wood, cooking, and various other odd jobs. This is also a great opportunity to fellowship with other men and connect with God’s Word.
