We have 5 speaking parts for Junior Leaders (5th/6th Grade), and two non-speaking parts (Mary & Joseph). Sign up for one of these parts at the SPL Kids table in the Fellowship Area. All children who attend one of the main Saturday or Sunday rehearsals (December 15th/16th) will be able to be either a sheep, shepherd, or angel and do not need to sign up for these ahead of time. If you have questions about these, please contact Jennifer Power.
There are two main rehearsals this year. Those with speaking parts, singing with a microphone, and those playing Mary and Joseph will need to be at both practices. Everyone else can select the rehearsal that works for their family. We highly recommend 3-4 year old children attend the Saturday rehearsal as we have found the turnaround for the Sunday rehearsal to the service to be difficult for young children.
Children attending any SPL Kids times (Sunday School or Worship) will practice the core songs during class meeting times. One of the songs this year includes motions. You can find this video on the SPL Kids Playlist on our SPLDecatur YouTube Channel or by clicking this link: SPL Kids – Go Tell It on the Mountain with Motions
All the songs this year are basic Christmas Carols, and you can pick up a copy of the lyrics and one of the practice CDs at the SPL Kids Check-In table. The songs include:
Families participating in the Children’s Christmas Worship are encouraged to make an ornament at home which they will bring up to a Christmas tree during worship. While supplies last, we have some blank ornaments that can be used as a base if desired.
What are you quick to do? What are you slow to do? The Bible tells us exactly what we can be quick and slow to do by the power of the Spirit inside of us. Read about it in James 1:19-21
When we grumble, we reject joy. Grumbling puts us and our own expectations above the purposes of God. Instead, Paul gives us this challenge, “do everything without grumbling or arguing.” How? Read to find out.
Scripture is clear that it is by Jesus’ grace alone that we are redeemed and saved. Our works don’t earn us salvation. So, what exactly is Paul talking about in this passage from Philippians 2? Read more to find out.
