From one year to the next, in the putting up and taking down of the decorations, some pieces may become worn, some become damaged, others may break. What do you do with those pieces?
This “JOY” ornament is one of those worn and broken pieces – maybe you look at it and see something that has less value now because it is broken.
But instead, maybe it’s purpose is revealed in a greater way. You see, the “Joy” ornament is no longer “complete” on first look. But look a little closer. See it’s greater purpose. At the center of this “Joy” is JESUS. Now it’s a reminder that, while we may get distracted by what’s around us or stuck on what’s broken, when we fix our eyes on Him – the author and perfector of our faith – everything else fades away and you see what’s truly important.
Now it’s also a reminder of His Word to you:
““As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love.
I have told you this so that MY JOY may be IN YOU and that YOUR JOY may be COMPLETE.” John 15:9-11 NIV
Your JOY is made COMPLETE in JESUS, as His Joy takes root in you.
So in this season, if right now you’re feeling worn, or damaged, or even broken – see past all of those pieces by fixing your eyes on Jesus.
Realize that it might be exactly what helps you uncover the greater purpose He has placed within you, and through the wearing or breaking that you can receive His completeness, His joy, and His love for you. A more complete Joy because it’s from the only one who can fill all of the broken spaces and mend it all together. You are loved and valued far beyond what you can ever imagine.
