The day is here – it’s Ash Wednesday, the “official” beginning of the Lenten season. During this time, we invite you to be a part of the intentional worship experiences being offered at SPL. Consider not what you can “give up” in this season of Lent, but what you can “give in” to through these 40 days.
While we just completed the winter session of F3: Family-Faith-Formation and it will return following Easter, you can still gather with us on Wednesdays through April 10th to dig deeper into the Word and the music that points us to Jesus in the Lenten season. Come at 12:15pm or 6:30pm to worship and be a part of “All About Hymn” – it’s all about Jesus. Dinner is also available at 5:30pm each week in the Dining Room.
In weekend worship, you can explore the themes of “He Chose the Nails” by Max Lucado along with us. We’ll follow the series right up through Palm Sunday, worshiping each weekend on Saturday at 6:00pm and Sunday at 8:00am & 10:30am. You can also dig deeper on Sunday mornings at 9:15am in Pastor’s Class (Dining Room), as Pastor Eric shares teaching and conversation based on the themes presented.
During Holy Week, you can experience elements of the Passover meal and the Last Supper through the Seder Meal tasting on Maundy Thursday, April 18th at 6:30pm. Registration will be available mid-March. This is also a special celebration for our sixth graders and their families as they experience communion for the first time as participants. All are welcome to attend.
Good Friday brings worship at 1:00pm & 7:00pm on April 19th – here you can experience the Tenebrae service (service of darkness) through reflection on the Seven Last Words of Christ and His death on the cross.
Easter comes on Sunday, April 21st. Be first to the tomb – come to the traditional Easter Sunrise worship at 6:30am. Bring your family and celebrate in worship through blended services offered at 8:00am & 10:30am.
So again, consider not what you can “give up” in this season of Lent, but what you can “give in” to through these 40 days. Give in to God’s will for your life. Give in to a deep and meaningful relationship with Jesus. Give in to serving others, to showing love, even when it’s hard. Give in to lasting change, to making a real difference. We’re here to help you every step of the way.
