This is, by far, one of the heaviest and hardest questions in all of Christianity. Why does a good, gracious, all powerful and loving God allow for tragedy and suffering in His creation? Maybe you’ve seen the news recently. Another school shooting, this time in Oregon. A shooter specifically targeting Christians. Giving those professing faith in Jesus a bullet in the head instead of a bullet in the leg. The news is hard to swallow. Even more so when you consider what word of comfort you might offer these grieving families when they want to know “where is God in all of this?”

There’s a lot that has been said on the subject. Some helpful, some harmful. Entering into the mind of God is no small task. And while the question of why remains one of the most difficult to comprehend, we can be sure of what God has done and is doing about the suffering in this world. We’ll be engaging this topic next weekend in our Decatur church-wide Room for Doubt series. Until then, consider these thoughts on the subject from the Christian writers with Relevant Magazinehttps://www.relevantmagazine.com/current/nation/where-god-tragedy

Enjoying the Journey,

Pastor Doug
