Family Easter Event Information
Submitted by Jennifer Power
I hope you can all plan to join us Saturday, March 19th at 10:00am for our Family Easter Celebration and Easter Egg Hunt. God has been working in my life in new and exciting ways in these last few months, and one way in particular involves showing me a clearer vision for Children’s Ministry. One aspect of this vision He has been revealing involves better equipping parents to be the primary teachers of the faith for their children.
With that in mind, this year the first hour of the Family Easter Celebration will be an opportunity for families to grow closer to God together, and in a low-pressure setting create space for parents to practice discipleship with their children. The Family Easter Celebration this year will feature four different simple stations where families can encounter the Easter story together. Parents and children can move from station to station as they desire and participate in the designated activities.
The Four Stations
Prayer: Parents and children will enter the sanctuary together to listen to soft worship music and follow prayer prompts designed to help families pray together.
Easter Story: Age-appropriate children’s books on the Easter story will be available in a comfortable setting so parents and children can read and encounter these stories together. Bibles and selected bible passages will also be available.
Easter Devotions: A simple breakfast will be served in room 122 where families can sit together and engage in a family devotion (which will be provided).
Easter Crafts: Tables will be set up with craft opportunities which are designed to be worked on together as a family and which help tell the Easter story.
At 11:00am we will all head outside for our annual Easter Egg Hunt. A serving opportunity will follow the Easter Egg Hunt as families have the opportunity to stay and help clean up in preparation for Saturday night worship.
I hope you will plan to join us for this morning of growing together as a family through prayer, books, devotions, crafts, serving, and an Easter Egg Hunt. If you have any questions about our Family Easter Celebration, you can call or email me (jennifer@spldecatur.org or 217-423-6955).
If you would like to contribute to this event through donations or to help with set-up, let me know or check out the table in the fellowship area!
May this Easter season draw you and your family closer to Him.
In His love and service,
Jen
