Keeping Your Marriage Fresh
When you first started dating your spouse, what kinds of things did you do? You probably went out to the movies, took walks in the park, or found something fun to do on the weekend like a music festival or going to a pumpkin patch.
Whatever it was, it was new and exciting because you had never done those kinds of things with that person before. The things you did may have been new and exciting for you personally as well. Perhaps you had never been to a pumpkin patch but found it enjoyable. Creating those shared experiences is part of what builds intimacy and ensures that friendship is part of your marriage. And while it may be easier to do some of those things early in the marriage, before children and other responsibilities make it more difficult, there are still plenty of things you can do with your spouse that are new and exciting.
I’ve included here a link to a Gary Thomas blog below that speaks to this very issue — doing new things to keep your marriage fresh. No matter how long you’ve been married or whether you are in a high or low point, you and your spouse can benefit from breaking out of the mundane, day-to-day routine, and doing something new and exciting. I hope you find it a good read and that it’s a blessing to your marriage as you learn how to do something new.
Yours in Christ,
Jarvis
